A big time X factor in the region, Pettus was one of the most impressive players in the 2028 class when I saw him as an 8th grader. Samari relocated to Georgia before his Freshman season but is back in the Bluegrass state now. If he’s developed and grown since the last time I saw him, Pettus should be a top ten player in the region, immediately.

When he was an 8th grader at Browning Springs in Madisonville, Samari was extremely impressive to me when I caught him at the 8th grade state tournament. Pettus returned to the state this summer after spending a year away and 40 is really a place holder for him until we can get eyes on him again this season. It’s entirely likely that Samari is very underrated right now.

Pettus was a standout 8th grader at Madisonville before moving but is now back in the city. Enrolled at Hopkins County Central, Samari has the potential to be the Red Storm’s leading scorer if he’s developed from the player he was in 8th grade when I thought he had potential to be near the top of the 2028 class rankings.

Pettus was a big part of a talented Madisonville squad that I watched at 8th grade state. He definitely has a ton of long term potential.
