Expert Analysis
Van Johnson | Prep Hoops Scout
Rodney brings the charm city toughness every time he steps on the floor. Attacks on the paint, finished well over defenders inside, made smart decisions in getting others involved, brought a gritty overall feel on the court, and truly proved to be a true competitor. Watching him this season was refreshing, there is no way you could walk away and not be impressed with how this young man plays the game.

-One of my favorite pure PGs to watch in the area, Scott made chicken salad out of a rough shooting day for the Cougars. The senior floor general bailed his team out with two C+S threes at the end of shot clocks and sliced to the rim for easy twos or drop-offs to a teammate throughout the game. The touch in and around the paint has improved, as he finished with a floater off glass from the side of the basket and had a extension finish drop through the night after hitting high off the glass on the way up. How well he is able to find teammates off of broken plays at the end of shot clocks and get his shooters going will likely play a big role in his team’s performance in close games.

Scott provided a MASSIVE burst of energy on both ends of the floor when inserted into the game midway through the 1Q, coming in cold off the bench to hit a corner three and collect a steal and two assists within a 3-minute span. A true point guard that always is trying to create looks for others, he was a pitbull on the ball– forcing dribble pick-ups, grabbing deflections, and timing changes in direction well to poke out the basketball.
