Birschbach is a true two way player for Mammoth and was impressive though the weekend in Appleton. What stands out the most about Owen’s game, is his ability to disrupt opposing offenses with his length and instincts defensively. Several times throughout the event, Birschbach was in passing lanes, generating deflections, and pressuring his on ball matchup to force instant offense the other way for his squad. Offensively, Birschbach has a good skillset to score at any level. He can finish through contact, has a sweet stroke from downtown, and can get downhill easily with his intelligence in reading closeouts. An interesting prospect going into next year, Birschbach will be one to keep an eye on moving forward into next season for New Holstein, but also this spring and summer.
Birschbach brought a blue-collar mentality to Madness in the Midwest, serving as a reliable interior presence for Mammoth. He consistently scored in the paint. He used his body well to carve out space, and hit the glass hard from the weak side. His energy and physicality set the tone whenever he was on the floor. He added a gritty edge to his team’s identity.
