Barnes is lightning quick with the ball in his hands and uses his burst to blow by defenders effortlessly. The 6-foot guard also has a great handle and can finish with both hands at the cup, and he has really nice vision in both the half court and transition. Finally, he defends like a mad man and has amazing hands and lateral quickness. It’ll be tough for Barnes to get too many minutes on Darrow Academy next season (they’re stacked), but he should definitely be a high level D3 player. He really understands how to play and has to be one of the most underrated guards in the region. He was turning heads this weekend. He’ll be reclassing to 2026 next year.

Barnes runs the show very effectively for Middlesex Magic Alex. The 6-foot guard is certainly undersized, but he handles it well against pressure and is quick enough to get into the paint to create offense for his squad. Most impressive, though, was the energy and intensity he was playing with on the defensive end, always digging in for steals and helping out bigs on the boards while being super active and handsy. Just not a fun guy to play against. Barnes should find a D3 fit somewhere as a result of his ability to be a floor general offensively and a pest defensively, and he’ll be joining the 2026 class at Darrow School.

Barnes is an incredibly skilled point guard with a very high basketball IQ. He doesn’t really have an offensive weakness and can be heavily trusted as a team’s point guard, which he is for Central Flight. He lights it up from three and also makes great decisions for his teammates via the pass. Barnes also has a surprisingly quick first-step and some solid athleticism at the hoop. Definite D3 guard with the potential for some D2 looks.
