Dean is one of the names gaining attention in the latest Class of 2033 rankings. His inclusion among the leading prospects makes him a player to follow as the new evaluation cycle develops. Continued observation should focus on the specific skills that separate him from his peers, his consistency across events and how his overall game progresses over the coming season.

His performance at this fall’s Jr 3SSB All-American Camp firmly solidified him as one of the premier point guards in the class. He plays with an impressive combination of IQ, pace, and elite decision-making, consistently keeping defenders off balance while controlling the flow of the game. Add in his high-level three-level scoring ability, and he continues to establish himself as one of the most complete guards in the class.

MJ averaged 16.0 points and 2.3 made threes per game, giving him one of the strongest shooting profiles of the weekend. His ability to combine perimeter shooting with ball-handling makes him more than a catch-and-shoot threat. Dean can create space with the ball, pull up when defenders give him room, and force defenses to account for him beyond the arc.

Why he earned the badge: Dean’s shooting range enables him to create his own offense, making him hard to limit with a simple closeout.

Development Focus: Continue improving shot selection and decision-making when defenders pressure him beyond the three-point line.

MJ Dean is a guard who brings confidence, leadership, and a strong work ethic to the floor. He plays with purpose, stays involved, and continues to separate himself through his approach to the game. Dean’s combination of skill, competitiveness, and maturity makes him a prospect worth tracking as he continues to develop.

A tough-minded young prospect who embraces physical play and competes through contact. He has the ability to attack the basket, absorb pressure, and finish through defenders while consistently playing with a low, strong base. His quick pull-up jumper adds another layer to his scoring ability, and his twitchy athleticism allows him to create opportunities in tight spaces. A relentless guard who plays with toughness, energy, and confidence.
