About Malik

What's your biggest strength as a player, and how does it show up in games?

My ability to score from any level and my ability to defend 1-5. I use this ability to keep my defender guessing about my next move. The ability to defend 1-5 helps my team be versatile with our defenses.

What are you working to improve right now?

My focus this offseason has been my footwork and my ball handling.

What are you looking for in a college program?

Academic support and a coaching staff that cares about the player as a person as much as a player. Looking for a program that will help me grow as a person and a player.

Outside of your sport, what should coaches know about you?

I work hard in the weight room and can be found in the gym almost everyday.

What do you want to study, and what career interests you?

I take career tech courses in Business at my high school, so that has my interest right now. Would like to get into something involving sports.

Powell is a mismatch problem for opposing teams with his ability to score from a variety of spots on the floor. He does a nice job attacking closeouts and using his skill set to create scoring opportunities off the bounce. Powell is a bit of a tweener between positions, but his versatility allows him to find different ways to contribute. I also like how he fills the lane in transition and puts himself in position for scoring opportunities. His scoring versatility, ability to attack closeouts, and effectiveness in transition give him multiple ways to impact the game.
