About Malik

What's your biggest strength as a player, and how does it show up in games?

My biggest strengths are my elite speed, blow-by ability, and finishing over length. In games, I use an effective crossover and sudden bursts of acceleration to get past my initial defender. Even against taller varsity-level rim protectors, I excel at finishing at the rim or using a quick floater. Additionally, I am highly efficient in the mid-range, shooting 60%–70% on pull-ups when defenses drop

What are you working to improve right now?

As a freshman, I am heavily focused on tightening my ball-handling under pressure, eliminating unnecessary dribbles, and making quicker decisions against older competition. I am also putting in consistent work to extend my range behind the three-point arc and developing my isolation shot-creation tools so I can be a more versatile, dynamic three-level scorer without always relying on screens.

What are you looking for in a college program?

I am looking for a program with a strong culture of player development and a coaching staff that will push me to my absolute ceiling over my college career. I want to play for a competitive team where hard work is the standard, accountability is embraced, and where I can contribute to winning while growing as both a student and an athlete.

Outside of your sport, what should coaches know about you?

Coaches should know that my work ethic doesn't stop when I leave the court. At 14 years old, I am already dedicated to a relentless process of self-improvement, no matter what it takes. Whether it is in the classroom, studying film, or diving into my creative hobbies, I bring the exact same focus and drive to achieve greatness.

What do you want to study, and what career interests you?

I plan to study Digital Media, Game Design, or Film & Animation. Career-wise, I am deeply interested in working in video game development, specifically focusing on the cinematic creations, visual storytelling, and cutscenes that bring games to life.
