About Malakai

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’d describe my gameplay style as being a leader on and off the court. Someone who keeps the team connected, communicates well, and leads by example with energy and effort. I take pride in making the right basketball plays, whether that’s scoring, creating opportunities for teammates, grabbing rebounds, or stepping up defensively.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have a strong work ethic and a competitive mindset, always pushing myself to improve and give my best effort. I value sportsmanship, respect my teammates and coaches, and strive to lead with a positive attitude on and off the court. I’m a determined competitor who stays focused, embraces challenges, and puts the team’s success first.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Grain Valley Impact Received the Sporting Kansas City Red Card Award

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I help lead Impact GV and also help lead the Jesus Project, a yearly outreach event that serves Grain Valley and surrounding communities. Through these experiences, I’ve learned the importance of serving others, working together, communicating effectively, and leading by example both on and off the court.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One significant challenge I’ve faced is living with Type 1 Diabetes. Managing it requires discipline, responsibility, and consistency every day, especially while balancing sports, school, and other activities. It has taught me resilience, mental toughness, and how to stay focused under pressure. Going through this challenge has helped me grow as both a person and an athlete.

What type of college are you looking for?

Christian college- my long term goal is to be a pastor.
