VanderWilk was a player that I saw a couple weeks ago, but wanted another look at. At the Mitten State Mash, he cemented my belief that he’s a next level talent. VanderWilk is tall and long, but moves really well. He can get up and down the floor and looked really good attacking the block on the opposite side in the open floor.

VanderWilk is another member of the Hardwood Midwest team. He has a solid frame and does a good job using it in and near the paint. VanderWilk takes advantage of his height by rebounding high and playing above smaller defenders. He has a nice power game that allows him to finish through the defense.

Luke offers a tall and active post presence, often working to gain front position on his defender in the key. Vanderwilk keeps the ball high and attacks his defender’s chest, generating plenty of looks at the rim and converting at a strong percentage. He also sets solid screens for his guards and rolls hard to the basket.

I hear through the grapevine that VanderWilk is heck of a golfer. I’ll put my jealousy aside and add him to the list of players to watch. VanderWilk has a nice frame and nice height and some solid body control. I feel like there’s some really nice upside to this young player and I’m excited to see it live.
