Expert Analysis

Lucas continued his strong spring this past weekend and played a big role in helping his team earn a perfect 4-0 record. Despite being an All-State caliber player coming off the bench, Pesky consistently made a huge impact with his scoring, toughness, and 2-way play. The smooth-shooting Shark knocked down shots at a high level all weekend and was outstanding attacking off the bounce, getting by defenders and finishing at the rim. Defensively, his physical presence on the perimeter helped create transition opportunities for both himself and his teammates. Pesky’s ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor made him one of the key Difference-Makers during the weekend.

Luas Peskey might be one of the more underrated players in SD, but his game speaks loudly. After putting together a strong season with the Sharks—averaging 19.2 points per game on 44.7% shooting, along with 5.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists while knocking down 51 threes at a 31% clip—he’s proven he can produce at a high level. Like any good shark, he plays with a natural instinct to attack, always on the hunt and ready to strike when opportunities open up. Peskey is a dynamic offensive threat with a smooth, confident stroke and a quick trigger on his J. He pairs that with a sharp first step and strong lateral quickness, allowing him to create space and break down defenders. His handle is tight—ball on a string—and he’s comfortable getting to his spots, whether it’s pulling up for a three, knocking down a mid-range jumper, or hitting defenders with a tough step-back. What really stands out is his aggressive mindset and creativity as a scorer. He’s a shot-maker, a slasher, and a finisher who isn’t afraid to attack and make plays in traffic. Peskey brings energy, skill, and a scorer’s mentality every time he steps on the floor, and he’s a player who deserves a lot more attention moving forward.

He is playing great on the gridiron and the Sharks have a 2-1 record. Through 3 games, Peskey has 444 rushing yards on 49 carries. That is 9.06 yards/carry and 148 yards/game. Lucas has 2 rushing TD’s and 208 receiving yards on 10 receptions. That is 20.80 yards/rec and 69.33 yards/game, and he has 2 receiving TD’s. In hoops, Peskey is an outstanding athlete and an unselfish teammate. He can score the rock and also facilitate. Lucas is also a fantastic defender, he is a thief who creates a ton of turnovers. He stuffs the stat sheet and will put up incredible numbers this winter.

Lucas is an outstanding athlete with a high basketball IQ. Peskey has ability to finish at the rim and stretches the floor well. His 3 ball continues to improve and makes him a threat anytime he touches the ball. His court vision is top notch and separates him from a lot of other players at his position. Lucas had a game with 10 steals last season, and this definitely classifies him as a take over defender.
