The prospect with the most upside from the Grassroots Elite group, Staley is a mismatch for opposing teams due to his size and length. Those skills are effective on both ends of the court as Staley blocked a few shots and grabbed a handful of offensive rebounds. Still progressing as a big, Staley dropped a couple tight window passes but when he was able to catch and go up at the rim, shot an extremely high percentage in the paint. Seeing continued growth from Staley who should be an option for small college and JUCO options with a strong senior season.

Lorenzo Staley is a super tall and long forward. Defense is where Staley really shows his impact on the game. He uses his length to contest any shot at the basket and get a ton of blocks. Even though guarding smaller players isn’t ideal, he is athletic enough to keep them in front of him. Offensively he is really good at catching the at the free throw line and turning and kicking out to teammates for 3. When he faces up looking to attack he is strong going right and finishing off two feet. Staley is also a monster on the glass, and it is hard to keep him from getting 2nd chance opportunities.

One of the more physically imposing bigs in the Grit Region of the Prep Hoops Circuit, Staley is a load to handle in the paint. When Staley runs the floor, he’s really tough to stop because of his long strides and physical profile. A couple slam dunks and layups on the fast break, Staley can overpower guards that get switched onto him in the post position as well. For Staley, having the motor he plays with offensively on the other end of the court will be key. He blocked a couple shots and has legit upside to tap into as he continues to develop.

A guy who we saw on the Prep Hoops Circuit, Staley is an impressive athlete with how fluid he moves at 6’7. With his perimeter switching ability and size, he’s a force protecting the rim with some impressive blocked shots. He also had a steal where he took it coast to coast for a layup finish. A power athlete, Staley had a few dunks that got the crowd going crazy at different Prep Hoops Circuit events. Playing for Glenville, one of the most athletic teams in the state and a football powerhouse, Staley could be an impact player for a team coming off back-to-back district titles.

Glenville always has athletes with size and Staley is the next in line. With impressive length and explosiveness, Staley has a lot of untapped athletic potential. With his long strides, Staley was able to run the floor in transition and his highlight play was a steal on a trap and coast to coast finish at the rim. Had a few blocks in the paint, Staley commanded the rim and even saved a ball from going out of bounds after a block. I’ll be interested to see how Staley develops over the next couple years as he has a lot of tools to work with.
