Lawton brings a versatile offensive game with the ability to function as an initiator or slide off the ball and become a scoring threat. His handle allows him to break down defenders and control pace, while his three-level scoring gives him answers at different points on the floor. He is confident from deep, comfortable in the middle game, and willing to attack the cup. He also brings value in transition, as he puses tempo and finishes with craftiness. In the half court, his ability to operate off the catch allows him to remain involved alongside another ball handler. His competitiveness and timely play-making add substance to this overall floor game.
