About Lance

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

My game play is more moving without the ball, slashing and strong power play to the goal. I also like to shoot the midrange jump shop. Last but not least I can shoot the three ball.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am a person and a player that think of others first. I'm very strong minded but humble person. I'm very coachable and respectful to all.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I'm currently playing with Kingdom Hoops.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I'm just a freshman but I can lead if need to be. Team is before I. I love to give back to my community, I help my mother and her friends serve the homeless when I'm available to do so.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes! As a freshman I started varsity basketball for about 11 games and the most challenging thing of that is being placed on the bench after some seniors come back from playing football. The challenging part was knowing that I was suppose to be out there helping my team.

What type of college are you looking for?

Any college that's giving scholarships.

Lance Shelton is the imposing center for Kingdom Hoops 16U as he was the primary defender of the paint during the Lonestar State Showdown weekend. I was particularly impressed by his physicality in the post, where he effectively battled for advantages on both ends of the court. Offensively, Shelton prefers to position himself deep in the post to receive the ball and capitalize on scoring opportunities in that area. Defensively, he maintains his ground through contact in the post, utilizing his frame to protect the paint.
