Saint James made an impressive run in the MPSBBT B Division last season as it took a buzzer beating shot from Mt. Zion Prep (Blue) in the semifinal game to be upended. While much of the production flowed through Khari’s older brother Jayden, there were spurts of games where Khari’s flashes spoke volumes. It also gave us something to note down as he will embrace a bigger role this season in a more balanced attack for Saint James this season. Similar to Jayden, Khari is a dual-sport standout as he shines on the gridiron as well as the hardwood. The athleticism and toughness that you typically see in these sort of prospects surfaces with Yates in the form of above the rim finishes on the break, guarding his yard defensively against shifty matchups and battling for 50/50s.

Khari can get it done in a multitude of ways on the offensive end. Shoots the ball with consistency from range and can’t be left open. He looks for his shot beyond the arc and inside the perimeter off the dribble. Never hesitant with the ball and makes each decision with confidence. Grown a bit in height over the summer and put his game on our radar after a strong summer. Reliable guard with some real potential.

Khari was having his way when I got a chance to see him at CBG East Coast Live. There was nothing he couldn’t do with the ball in his hands against New Hope Regional. Khari scored out on the break and muscled his way to the rim for and-1’s. Dropped in a few catch-and-shoot 3’s from around the perimeter. Khari created separation between himself and his defender with his speed and smooth handle, then rose into his pullup or made a play on the rim. Promising showing from Khari as this is only the surface of his max potential.
