Jerry “JT” Tipton is a three-point marksman. While he does see a good deal of catch-and-shoot looks from deep, Tipton’s shot preparation is key and leads to success with rhythm jumpers as well. He’s got his feet squared to the basket and always seems to have his hands ready on the catch. Tipton has a sneaky quick first step as well and if he’s knocking down shots from deep, defenders have to play him honestly and he can just as easily take them off the dribble and blow by them.

Tipton is your traditional point-guard who is a pass-first guard who can get his teammates involved whether it’s off the bounce or the catch. Tipton has a natural court-vision where he hits his teammates in stride where they can finish around the rim. Defensively, Tipton has sneaky athleticism where he rebounds exceptionally well from the guard position and can dictate the pace of the game. Look for Tipton’s recruitment stock to start piling up as college coaches need to get on his radar this spring.

The 5-10 sophomore guard is the true definition of a three-level scorer where he can be an absolute menace on the offensive end. Tipton has shown a ton of production so far this season where he continues to show great leadership and his IQ is quickly rising. On the defensive end, Tipton is very quick and active to jump the passing lanes where he can turn his transition game by getting steals to turn into points on the offensive end in a hurry. He currently has one of the highest scoring averages in the state for the sophomore class, averaging nearly 22 points per game.

The 5-10 sophomore guard plays a complete all-around game whether it’s his physicality on the offensive end or being a disruptor on the defensive end. He is a smooth finisher on all three levels where he does a great job at getting to the free throw line. Look for Tipton’s stock to continue to rise as he gears up for his sophomore season. He averaged a team-best four steals per game last season as a freshman.

JT Tipton, A 5-10 sophomore combo guard who can distribute the basketball as well as score across all three levels. Last season as a freshman, Tipton averaged nearly 20 points and six assists per game for Lecanto. Tipton’s potential is only going to increase as his confidence rises. He is also an above-average rebounder for his size where he uses his length to crash the boards. Tipton also provides a lot of activity in the passing lanes where he can get steals which led to transition points on the offensive end. College coaches should start taking notice on Tipton as he is just now entering his sophomore season.

Tipton is also a capable passer who gets his teammates involved early and often during games as well.
