As a big fan of his older brother Elijah, naturally I had to check out the younger McKinnie and watch him play. Only a seventh grader playing against older competition, the younger McKinnie clearly inherited both size (he looked taller than his listed 5’8″) and basketball IQ. He was calm and confident bringing the ball up the court and his pulse stayed cool even as the competition and intensity ramped up around him. His ability to re-set the offense at the PG position is clear. McKinney had some trouble getting back on defense without fouling, but it’s clear that his gifts are plentiful and will continue to grow in the years to come.

Joshua McKinnie brought an intriguing blend of versatility and two-way ability to the BallIsWife Camp. The 2032 wing generated offense from all three levels, giving him multiple ways to attack depending on what the defense presented. McKinnie also provided considerable value on the defensive end, where he competed at a high level and consistently made things difficult for his matchup. With his ability to impact both sides of the ball, there is plenty of upside to track as his game develops.
