This is a different kind of ‘under the radar’. People around the state know his name, but I just don’t think that they understand how good Johnson really is and can be. They focus on his height. But meanwhile he’s using his strength to bully bigger players and putting them where he wants them.

Johnson was terrific with the Macomb County Cougars . Don’t focus on his height, because he can body a 6-4 guard and create more than enough space. Johnson was simply to strong for a majority of perimeter defenders to deal with this summer.

Johnson was really good this weekend. Coaches may focus on the height, but he effectively negated that early and often. Johnson initiates contact then plays off of it magnificently. He’s just incredibly strong with his base and his frame, and he uses it to bump a 6-4 player off his path with ease.

Johnson had a really good fall and he’s started to see the credit he deserves. Well, let’s keep that going. Johnson is best with the ball in his hands. This is when he can push pace and pressure the defense. Johnson always seems to be looking up the floor and looking to beat the defense back, which he can do with the dribble and the pass.

Johnson made a loud statement about his game at The Expo. He proved to be a gritty playmaking guard that liked to get downhill with the ball. Johnson plays the game with passion and was always communicating with his teammates on both ends of the floor. His jumper looked solid at the event as well.

Johnson dropped 30 in an impressive Chippewa Valley win against Fraser. Seeing this number isn’t a surprise from the explosive guard. Johnson’s ranking probably doesn’t do his game justice. He has shown in the past that he can get downhill with a fast first step and attack the defense. Johnson has a strong frame and can play through contact.

Johnson is the type of player that could really break out and send a message at the event this weekend. He played very well on the Prep Hoops Circuit this summer with the Macomb Cougars. Johnson can play at a high speed and is at his best when he pressures the ball and turns defense into offense.
