If I had to give Johnny a nickname after his performances at the Kentucky Freshman Showcase, “smart guy,” comes to mind. The naked eye might chalk some of his success up to being in the right place at the right time, but what I saw was intention. A true point guard that not only understands his role but those of his teammates as well. He served as the on-court coach for Team 1 and seemed confident being the vocal leader. His leadership and IQ at the guard position could set him up to be one of the best sleeper prospects in the class. Not to mention the fact that Johnny can get a bucket when he wants to.

There were a bunch of Louisville area guards in attendance and Williams was one who stood out amongst the crowd. Williams liked the spin move on his drives and also attacked on the baseline to try and get to the rim. On a team with some talented players, Williams didn’t force the issue and was able to help his team win some games in the 5 on 5 portion of the showcase.
