About John

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a shooter. I can shoot from the three point line, midrange, or drive and take it to the basket. I see the court well and know how to get to the open spot and I also know how to find the open man. I can play defense. I can defend well at the guard and small forward position.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I feel that I am strong mentally and know how to handle adversity. I have a strong faith and trust Christ to lead me in all things. I lead others well on and off the court and try to lead by example. I am outgoing and love the outdoors - hunting and fishing.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I traveled to Belize on a mission trip last year with an organization called Sports Reach. We are going to Brazil this summer. We put on sports camps and witnessed to the local communities. I am involved at my local church and serve weekly in the kids ministry, operating the sound and video system. I am involved in the local FCA at my school.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I try to always lead by example on and off the court. My team is important to me and my goal is to make sure everyone is where they are supposed to be on the court and encourage those having a difficult day. I participate in community service through my church and mission trips. We has cleaned up for people, gave food to those in need, and given basketball shoes to those in need.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Learning to handle adversity especially on the court has been something I have grown in. I have learned to always go to next play and not dwell on the past.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for somewhere where I can contribute to the program and grow as an athlete and individual. I obviously want to go somewhere where I will be playing. But I want to leave a place in better shape than what I found it at.
