Expert Analysis
Tom Keller | Prep Hoops Scout
Thomas provided a spark in a reserve roll for Ignatius. He stepped right in and didn’t miss a beat. He ran the floor with ease and his teammates found him in great spots. He took high percentage shots which he converted often. Thomas added 12 points. Thomas willed his way to different spots. He showed that he could get steals, rebound and come up with assists. Thomas would be a great pickup for a small college because he has great versatility and is fully bought into his role and doesn’t try to overdo himself.

I was impressed with how Thomas impacted the game in a variety of ways, not needing the basketball to make an impact. Thomas scored off a cut, an offensive rebound and had an acrobatic layup at the rim. He was also flying around the court defensively, causing chaos and steals. With the amount of plays he made in a high profile game, Thomas looks like a solid small college recruit who will be a key piece for the Wildcats as they try and run it back as state champions.

Playing for the Division I state champions, Thomas got limited action playing behind some talented seniors on the Wildcats. After seeing him shine for TNBA -Select, it seems like he’s going to be ready for a bigger role as a senior. A guard who can defend on the ball with solid athleticism, Thomas plays both football and basketball for the Wildcats. Also with a high GPA, Thomas will be pursued by high academic college programs for his talents. On the grassroots circuit you are able to see more what Thomas can do with the ball in his hands and with Saint Ignatius he plays within a balanced system where he’s a complimentary piece that would be similar to what he would play early on at the college level.

Saint Ignatius is coming off a state championship and they lose a handful of players to graduation that will need their minutes replaced next season. Thomas was a guy who I thought might be able to potentially play a role next season for the Wildcats. Playing for TNBA Premier, Thomas knocked down multiple shots off the bounce in the game I caught. A solid open court athlete, Thomas beat defenders down the court. Also jumping passing lanes defensively, Thomas showed off good instincts on that end of the court. When the driving lanes were shut off, Thomas kicked it out to open shooters.
