Johnson is one of the most skilled players I’ve seen in high school hoops. He has every trick in the book and is able to toy with and manipulate defenses because of how comfortable he is with the basketball in his hands. His three-point shot is consistent off the dribble and off the catch, but he really excels as a playmaker in transition—he moves at an incredible speed and knows how to use his body to get in front of defenders. He also has special passing ability and every finishing move you could possibly have with both hands. I don’t know what type of scholarship attention Johnson is getting (I don’t see any posted offers), but I think he can play at that level despite his lack of size at 5-foot-10.

Johnson is in a class of his own when it comes to skillset and feel. The 5-foot-10 guard is undersized, but there was probably no better ball handler and pure point guard in the gym yesterday. The Winchendon rising senior makes unbelievable decisions once he touches the paint—which he does WHENEVER he wants because of his quickness and shiftiness—and he’s the type of guy you want to facilitate your system. He can hit threes off the dribble, but he’s most effective in transition when he can read the defense and manipulate them with his eyes and change of speed dribbling moves. Defensively, he gets up under you and has ridiculously active hands—steals machine when he’s engaged and active. Size is going to be Johnson’s limiting factor when it comes to recruitment, but I think scholarship schools should be intrigued by his ability to play on both ends. A good year for Winchendon would do wonders for him—the starting PG spot should be open with Treddy Faison Treddy Faison 5'9" | PG Winchendon School | 2027 State New E on his way to Putnam.

Johnson has developed into one of my favorite players in the entire region to watch. The 5-foot-10 guard comes off the bench for an incredibly talented Winchendon squad, and it’s quite impressive what he’s able to do at his height against scholarship guards. He’s almost always the quickest player on the court and has the utmost confidence in his ability to handle the ball and get two feet in the paint (I don’t blame him). He makes excellent decisions for himself and his teammates, and he’s an electric defender on that end of the floor, too. His size will limit his recruitment, but boy is Johnson fun to watch.

I loved how he changed the complexion of the second half, creating turnovers, timing rebounds. He is as tough as I have seen, getting great paint touches, arduous made hoops especially off hand. The kid scores in a variety of ways runners, mid-range, deep (catch/shoot, in transition). I would expect his rercuitment to heat up. If he continues to play like I saw he is more than capable of getting tons of D2/D3 offers. I loved his heart and determination!

I continue to be wow’d by Johnson every time I watch him play. Despite the level of talent at Winchendon this season, it’s just too hard to keep the 5-foot-10 guard off the floor for too long because he brings so much on both ends. Offensively, he’s absurdly confident and handles the rock supremely well, so he can run your offense quite seamlessly by getting people involved but also finding spots to attack. Defensively, he’s lightning quick and is super pesky, so he’s frustrating to go against for bigger guards. Johnson’s size will probably limit his recruitment, but coaches should be keeping tabs on him.

Wow, Johnson is fun to watch. The NMH Tip-Off was the first time I’ve ever seen him play, and I can assure you it won’t be my last. The 5-foot-10 point guard is ridiculously quick with the rock in his hands and looks like he’s been dribbling the thing since he was a toddler. He makes live-dribble, one-handed passes in his sleep with both his right and left hand, and he has some pretty special passing vision. He’s also able to shoot it and finish with contact, though. He has the upmost confidence in his game and it’s going to take him a long way. Heck of a player.
