Expert Analysis
Robbie Hodin | Prep Hoops Scout
Vaz seems to be in the midst of a growth spurt, and it makes him a super intriguing prospect moving forward. For his East Providence squad, the 6-foot-5 sophomore plays a lot in the paint and overwhelms opponents with his ability to rebound the basketball and impact shots on the defensive end with his size and length. But in other contexts, it seems like he showcases a lot more guard skills and crafty footwork in the paint. Vaz looks like he’s growing physically as we speak and is getting more comfortable in his body and with his skillset, so he should be a force to be reckoned with moving forward.

Vaz, a sophomore forward out of East Providence High School, has some intriguing long term tools and the physical build to impact games both in the paint and on the perimeter. He’s grown closer to 6’5″ and with long arms and plus athleticism, can be really disruptive on the defensive end of the floor, particularly in passing lanes and at the rim. Offensively, he’s at his best in transition and when he moves off the ball as a rim finisher off of cuts.

Vaz is a 6’4″ forward out of East Providence. The 2028 prospect has a big frame and some real skill with the ball in his hands. He’s a quick finisher on catches in the dunker spot, makes plays as a creator in the open floor, and has the ability to finish with touch with his back to the basket. He rebounds at a high level on both ends of the floor, has a good feel for the game offensively, and can guard up and down a position. He’s a prospect to watch going forward and could be a breakout star in the RIIL this winter.
