Expert Analysis
Ari Rosenfeld | Prep Hoops Scout
In what would be the last game of his high school career, Baker went out with a flurry in an effective 16-point effort. He got off to a hot start with his vintage midrange game, working from the middle of the floor to get to his spots and rise up over smaller defenders with his soft touch. Baker would step things out later in the game showing enticing flashes of pullup shooting from 3 at his size. Once he gets into the flow of the game he also shows an ability to impact as a playmaker on D. The size and shotmaking make for a really interesting late addition for scholarship-level programs of a wide range of levels late in the cycle, with consistency being the only thing holding him back from steady D1 recruitment.

The most perimeter-oriented prospect on this list, Baker consistently intrigues with his blend of size, mobility, and mismatch scoring ability. With the movement ability of a wing but the height of a true forward, he excels as a midrange scorer with an ability to rise up smoothly over smaller defenders once he gets to his spots. Baker also shows instincts as a cutter, using his size and wiry strength to finish efficiently inside. He’s a pretty reliable threat to space the floor from 3 off the catch as well. The lack of ballhandling pushes him more toward the frontcourt than the wing, but scholarship-level programs up to the D1 level should be taking a long look at Baker into the late signing period.

Baker is a slashing wing with explosiveness and strength. He does a really good job slithering to different spots. He likes to score the ball from different mid-range spots. He is becoming better from behind the arc. He moves without the basketball. Baker can finish above the rim from the dunker spots. He is able to fill up the stat sheet.

-Strong athlete that is turning into a more willing slasher for a Dragons group that has been a giant-killer this year in their non-conference slate as well as in the MIAA. Baker can knock down open jumpers, can bully his way to the rim or to the line, and has a ton of long-term potential as a wing defender that can guard several positions at the next level. Want to see his handle to continue to improve to take advantage of long strides and his finishing ability.

Baker hit on a variety of shots in his first game of bracket play. He caught a rhythm that increased his already-high shot confidence. He began hitting pullup jumpshots right over the top of the smothering defense. Baker was athletic enough to rise over the defense and get his shot off, so him catching his rhythm was only a matter of time with his shot output. He put it on the ground and attacked the basket more than he has in the past, but the jumper is what kept his flame lit this game. big scoring finish from the stock-rising senior.
