About Jakovy
Expert Analysis
Garry Siehndel | Prep Hoops Scout
The Muskogee standout did not disappoint over the weekend. July is a tremendous leaper who thrives when he can get our and run on the fastbreak. He provides his team with a lot of energy and his teammates seek him out ahead of the defense. His long range shooting was also on display, as he was able utilize his quick release to knock down shots from all over the court against both Team Oklahoma and 1 Nation. The freshman was very disruptive on the defensive end and used a combination of anticipation to go along with his long wingspan to create steals. He always has his head up and on many occasions his teammates benefitted from his outstanding play on the defensive end.

A very intriguing prospect in the class of 2029, this point guard brought serious bounce to the floor. He showed off his athleticism throughout the event, attacking off the dribble and finishing above the rim—even in traffic. He showcased tight ball handling and consistently created space to get to his spots. Scored it on all three levels and proved to be a dynamic offensive weapon. He also passed the ball well, made smart reads, and set up his teammates throughout the event.

Jakovy is a lengthy, clever point guard that can dissect the opposing defense beautifully with his decision-making and heads-up playmaking. He leads the break with confidence and a remarkable ability to scan the floor and find his runners quickly with the best pathways to the bucket. He has strong hands on defense, regularly picking his opponents’ pockets and causing chaos in opposing passing lanes. He tips and deflects the ball efficiently, often leading to extra possessions for his squad. He’s an impressive distributor with the ability to throw a full-court pass right on target if needed. He’s a force to deal with on the glass on both ends and he’s not afraid to use his shooting range from beyond the arc if he’s given space to do so. He’s calm and constantly thinking things through, rarely ever making a mistake or the wrong choice. July’s going to be heavily sought after as his career progresses and it’s evident to see why.
