Harmony Okojie

Expert Analysis
Colby Giacubeno | Prep Hoops Scout
Okojie has quietly, but steadily begun to turn heads as this season has progressed with his spurts of two-way impact. The 6-foot-5 wing boasts a 7+ foot wingspan to go with pogo-stick athleticism around the rim to help collect rebounds, pose as as lob threat in the open floor or finish the job himself after gaining a driving lane off the dribble. His overall skillset remains raw, but there’s clear improvement in just about every aspect when you compare him to what he was in the fall. His ability to touch each category of the box score and even lead the team in scoring, rebounding or blocks when its his night could be a crucial ingredient for the 19-5 Cougars to defend their BCL and MIAA crowns.

Alongside Howard, Okojie chipped in with 12 points of his own as he showed off his athleticism off two feet on baseline cuts where he flushed a couple of lobs in the second half. Okojie is still a prospect who’s best basketball remains ahead of him, but he’s starting to show some signs of confidence and certainty as a timely cutter, energy guy on the glass, and properly using his 7-foot-4 wingspan on the defensive end. These sort of reps against top tier competition such as PVI should go a long way in helping Okojie carve out a consistent role for one of the deepest teams in the Baltimore Catholic League this season.

-Okojie is a physical W/F tweener that should step into a bigger role for the Cougars this year. While his skillset as a shooter and ballhandler is still developing, he will be effective playing his role as a rebounder, screen-setter, shot-blocker and occasional play-finisher around the rim. How quickly he can absorb defensive concepts and develop a scoring touch in the paint will likely dictate his role in a deep OLMC rotation.

-Okojie hasn’t really broken out on the scene yet but it’s only a matter of time. Okojie is a W/F athletic tweener that can comfortably guard 3-5 while also hitting the glass heavy at both ends of the floor. Love the energy he plays with and his willingness to do the small things for his squad.
