Expert Analysis

Richard is a 6’5 wing that has the modern tools that everyone wants. He can score on multiple different levels. He is a nice shooter, but he does not settle. He is a solid athlete who allows him to get to the rim and finish. He has good sneaky elevation that also allows him to score better than most. He has good patience and footwork around the rim, too. This also showed in his midrange game with his simple moves to get his shot off.

We just shouted Ridner Richard out at the Wright State team camp as he impressed us in the morning with his improved athleticism and burst. Another player I expect to continue to add to his recruiting interest, Midwest Live could be a great opportunity for programs from a variety of levels to check him out and see how he impacts the game. Also a talented quarterback, Ridner Richard could also receive college interest on the gridiron as well.

There’s been a lot of buzz around Ridner Richard this spring and I finally got to see him play early in the afternoon on Friday. Ridner Richard looks slimmer and more explosive as an athlete, beating defenders off the dribble on decisive attacks. Winning conference POY as a Junior, Ridner Richard has already established himself as one of the most productive players in the city and he looks even more dominant heading into his senior season.

Ridner Richard is a player who can play in whatever area of the floor you need him to. He has good size and length. He showed some really nice footwork in the post with a back-to-the-basket game. He hit a pair of turnarounds. This showed some nice touches that continued to shine throughout the rest of the game with finishes inside the free-throw line. He stepped out and knocked down some threes. This showed he could play inside and out.

A dominant offensive performance in the paint, Ridner Richard was productive as a driver using quick moves to get to the paint and his size to finish at the rim. I was also impressed with Ridner’s ability to get to the foul line, going into contact at the rim. A multi-sport athlete for CHCA, Ridner will be a name to keep track of for regional small college programs as he’s averaging over 15 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.

A new name for me, Ridner averaged 11 and 6 for CHCA as a Sophomore and looks like he’ll improve those numbers this winter based on what I saw Saturday evening. With a strong frame that’s also used on the gridiron, Ridner is an impressive athlete who is coordinated, can move his feet and use his strength. Able to crash the glass and score in the paint, Ridner is a nice complimentary piece to
