I liked Weinandy’s interior scoring as he opened the game with a nice drive and finish in the paint and then followed it up with a crafty lefty reverse layup where he used the rim as protection. Weinandy also showed quick hands defensively in the press, looking to strip opposing ball handlers and quickly advancing the ball after steals. After sitting for a while in the second half, Weinandy came back in the game fresh and ready to attack with multiple drive and kicks to set up shooters, a pull-up 3-pointers and a nice defensive stop to force a pass out of bounds.

Weinandy made multiple shots off the catch in 5 on 5 action on Saturday that caught my eye. An off ball guard, Weinandy played well as a spot-up shooter or attacking closeouts by using the threat of his shot to pump fake and drive to the rim. If Weinandy can spend some quality time in the weight room this fall I’d expect him to be a much-improved player when the high school season starts from where he’s at today.
