Grant Lanier
About Grant
Expert Analysis
Ryan Morgan | Prep Hoops Scout
We got our first look back at Lanier, since his return to Washington, at the Prep Hoops Expo this September. He’s no doubt a heady player who has the IQ and skill to thrive in his senior year. Outside shooting and defense seem to be his strengths, but he’s another player we are eager to get more eyes on as the season opens up.

Grant played with confidence all day on the court, not being afraid to go at anyone and guard the best player on the opposite team. Lanier moves off ball well, getting to his spots easily and being able to knock down catch and shoot shots with ease. He can create for himself too, getting his buckets when he wants.

Grant has a lot of upside on the court. It’s only the beginning for this sophomore and he has a ton of talent surrounding him to help out. Grant is a confident player and backs it up with his play. Lanier knows how to read defenses and knows what lanes to attack. His movement around the court is great, he is always moving around. He hits the three well, uses screens effectively, and finishes through contact at the hoop.

I’m not sure how Lanier will fit into the rotation this season but I do know this kid can put the ball in the hole. He’s another player with great toughness and could be a bursty scorer off the Crusaders bench. I think he will be a player who takes a bit to get adjusted to varsity ball but will hit his stride during the year and become a key piece to their season.

No. 2 | Lanier stands out for his ability to break down defenders, make tough shots, and give you a few “wow” plays. He can hit from outside but he’s most effective getting inside and drawing defenders’ attention. He had a fantastic spring and summer but will have plenty of competition for minutes at Eastside Catholic next season.
