Previous Rank: 62rnEvanson has an intriguing pairing of size and shooting prowess but this season he showed off a more well-rounded game, which seemed to be in large part due to added strength and quickness. He’s a long guard at 6-foot-5 and was able to block a lot of shots either right at the rim or on the run, and his added strength helped him create more space off of the dribble for his smooth jumper which he hit at a higher rate from all over.

Evanson maybe isn’t as under the radar as some of the other guards on this list, but his progress from a season ago has been awesome to see. He looks stronger and more assertive which has helped him not only as a scorer, getting better looks and not having to settle for as many contested jump shots, but also as a defender and has helped improve his athleticism on that end of the court. It seems his body is finally catching up to his technical skills and it has allowed him to play a more well-rounded game and expend less energy putting the ball and the basket.

He led his team with a 16 a game average last year, in a year they fell just short of the state tournament. He will be one of the best guards in district 4’s class 1A.

At a long and lanky 6-foot-5, Evanson’s frame awards him a lot of clearance on the offensive end. He can scoot into the lane whenever he wants to and takes a lot of contact when driving to the rim. He can rise and score when he gets inside, floating it over defenses with a soft touch. He really came on during last season’s state tournament for King’s Way Christian. He’s a flat out bucket getter and might even grow into the 6’6-6’7 range.

Evanson is a long body at the point guard spot that loves to work off the dribble and find his spots in the mid-range. He’s got great focus on his jumper which allows him to shoot over contests and bury shots. He’ll be asked to do a good amount of creating and scoring on this squad, but with all the ball-handlers available, Evanson would play a lot off the ball as well. This could allow him to get better looks with the defense sinking off to cut down driving lanes, instead of always collapsing to him as he likes to work towards the middle of the defense. His length plays well on the glass and he’ll need to be a factor in there on this undersized team, getting the ball and pressing the defense with a high paced attack.
