Down in the class of 2031, Utsey is a player already turning some heads. He is a creative offensive guard who can work the perimeter, set up teammates, and get to the free-throw line. Gene had 11 points, all on threes and free throws, in a matchup with Northside Christian. He did show a couple of nice moves to beat his man off the dribble, but he’s not there yet as a finisher around real size. This experience will only boost his development, and it’s not hard to see a world where Gene is one of the best guards in South Carolina’s 2031 class.
