Grear is one of the most complete guards in North Carolina that not enough people talk about and he was simply his best self at Phenom Team Camp this past weekend. In our early Friday afternoon viewing, Grear was in total control for this Pine Lake Prep team as he did a little bit of everything using his skill and physicality to create offense for his team. His ability to post smaller guards was a big factor in his strong performance. He was initiating offense, getting to his spot, and then raising up with jump hooks or kicking out to open shooters off of doubles. Grear has a ton of aspects within his game that are super translatable to the next level and smart college coaches will soon realize that if they haven’t already.

Grear is a sturdy combo guard who brings strength, feel, and production to the backcourt. He handled contact well, made smart decisions, and showed the ability to rebound and push in transition. His game has a mature quality that should continue translating against good competition.

A consistent and menacing presence out of Pine Lake Prep; fundamentally sound with a bright future in the KOC grassroots program; put together 17 double-doubles as a sophomore in 2025-26, averaging 19.0 ppg, 9.0 rpg, 2.3 apg and 2.2 spg this past season; constantly looks to make the right play when the ball comes his way

Grear is a remarkably consistent and gifted guard with positional size to go with his feel for the game. Grear is a big PG that plays the game with a very cerebral approach. Regardless of the pace of the game, Grear will find a way to be impactful. His ability to make plays for others is always going to be his calling card but his bag of tricks as a self creator continues to evolve. He does a great job using his strength to create space on the inside when guarded by smaller guards. He’s also comfortable operating in multiple areas of the floor as the focal point of the offense. This KOC 2028 group was one of NC’s top independent groups last season and looks to be that way again. Grear is a guy that will only gain value as I see his production translating to the older age groups/higher levels of competition. He might not be the most explosive or flashy guy but his game is legit, his production is undeniable, and he checks so many boxes coaches are looking for in next level players.
