Donovan has gotten a lot taller over the past year and is starting to really understand how to use his size and length. On Saturday, the 6-foot-5 wing got into the lane and did a great job kicking out out to teammates by leaning into his size and seeing over the defense effortlessly. He also gets his shot off easily because of his size, and he can handle it well positionally. Donovan is going to surprise a lot of people in the MIAA this season and will probably be able to find a prep school at some point if he wants.

Donovan is a different player than he was last year. The 6-foot-5 wing has grown both vertically and in terms of his strength, but he has also become more athletic and skilled, too. The lefty strokes it from three but also drives closeouts quite effectively and understands how to finish with slow-steps, euro-steps, and other crafty footwork. He’s one of the only guys on this list who wasn’t a league all-star last season, but he’s improved so much over the last year that I could see him having a total breakout for Catholic Memorial and stamping himself as a prime prep school target.

Donovan shocked me this weekend. The 6-foot-4 wing has grown a lot over the past year—both height-wise and in terms of his body—and it’s playing dividends for him on both ends of the floor. His shooting stroke has always been solid, but his improved physicality now allows him to body players in the paint and get above the rim for dunks. He really understands how to use his body and attack closeouts, but he also has a solid handle and some wiggle in his game and finishes at the cup like a guard. Defensively, he plays hard and isn’t afraid to mix it up with bigger players—I was impressed with his toughness all weekend. The rising junior should be one of Catholic Memorial’s best players this upcoming season and is going to be a really intriguing college prospect over the next couple of years, especially if he chooses to go to prep school for a year or two.
