Darden’s game is defined by poise, patience, and total command of tempo. He’s elite at stringing out defenders, maintaining his dribble with composure and precision until he manipulates the coverage to his advantage. Instead of forcing action into congestion, he uses hesitation and pace variation to read the help-side rotations, dictating the flow of the possession. His ability to keep defenders on a string while maintaining complete control of the ball makes him an advanced operator in ball-screen and isolation situations.

A tough and shifty guard, Elijah uses his speed to blow past defenders to make a play for himself. He’s crafty when driving in the lane converting on acrobatic finishes and skilled moves. Has deep three point shooting range and is good at shooting threes coming off of screens. He also is good at using the screen to speed past the defender that switched on him and go score at the basket.

Elijah is elite offense in a bottle. He’s extremely quick with or without the ball and he has a rapid release on his jumper that makes it nearly impossible to block. He can catch fire quickly from three and will punish you over and over again if you give him any amount of separation. He’s effective on the break and will gladly be the alley to the oop for his bigs hustling and running the floor. What I love most about Darden’s game is he absolutely puts up points, but he doesn’t do it irresponsibly. He’s careful with his shot selection and his IQ is off the charts for his age. In games where he’s scoring 30+, he’ll often pair that with a shooting percentage above 50%, which is rare to find. Elijah has superstar potential and he’s an exciting prospect to watch continue to develop.
