The Styers name has led Holy Name recently and Drew has had a strong senior season for the Green Wave. A high motor wing guard who plays hard each time I watch him on the court, Styers is just productive. It’s interesting watching Styers attack the basket as a driver as he prefers to finish with his left hand at the rim despite being a right-handed shooter. Styers went over the 1,000 point mark for his career in January and could have a strong career at the small college level.

It’s been a rough season for Holy Name with an 0-8 record against a very tough schedule. Despite this record, I was impressed with Styers as an individual on Sunday as he’s still producing at an extremely high level this season. Styers loves using his left hand at the rim with layups and floaters despite being a right-handed jump-shooter. I thought Styers played the game the right way, taking shots when he was open and finding the open teammate when the defense collapsed onto him. Also a capable shooter from the outside, Styers knocked down a couple 3-pointers as well. Styers looks like a quality small college target and could potentially follow a similar path as his older brother did as an impact player at Wooster.

Holy Name was a team I caught early in the season and Styers popped as a big time shooter and impressive athlete. With a couple breakaway dunks last week against Valley Forge, you are starting to see what Styers can do in the open court. Scoring 26 points that night, it seems like Styers is starting to hit his stride this season. Styers also won game MVP in the East Vs West Challenge when Holy Name defeated Gilmour in mid December.

at Holy Name. Styers can shoot it, just like his older brother Brandon did for the Green Wave a few years ago. While Drew has the similar righty shooting form as his big bro, Drew likes going up at the rim with his left hand. Making a quick right to left crossover and then hitting a running layup and-1, Styers was confident at the rim with his left hand. Putting up big numbers to start the season on a Holy Name squad that wants to push the pace and score the basketball, look out for the Green Wave in Division II this season.
