It took me way too long to finally scout Ahrens in person but I got the chance to head to Versailles back in December to see his game. A unique guard who is an elite passer of the basketball, Ahrens has the vision and positional size to throw cross-court passes with velocity and accuracy. One of the most productive players in the legendary MAC, Ahrens has helped Versailles get off to an 11-3 start with unbeaten Delphos St John’s coming up next on the schedule. With Ahrens combination of athleticism, production, passing ability and size, there’s a lot to work with at the college level. If he ever starts confidently taking and making 3-pointers he could be one of the steals of the class.

One of the top small-town guards in Ohio, Ahrens is an elite passer and athlete who moved at a different speed than anybody else on the court Tuesday night. Able to change paces with ease, Ahrens was able to blow past players in transition while also slowing down, taking contact and finishing at the rim. Combine those skills with the exceptional passing ability that allows him to fire passes across the court and Ahrens is an extremely tough cover. If Ahrens starts to shoot the 3-pointer with more confidence, he has a chance to come in and play right away at the scholarship level.
