Donovan Flamer
About Donovan
Expert Analysis
Van Johnson | Prep Hoops Scout
He’s long, athletic, and physically imposing with a high motor and excellent nose for the ball. Hudson finishes well around the basket but doesn’t need a ton of offensive touches to make his presence felt. Between his ability to dominate the glass and protect the rim defensively, he poses constant problems for opponents. Flamer is an intriguing two-way for forward to monitor going forward, so it’ll be interesting to watch his growth going forward.

-Flamer’s athleticism and productivity have seen noticeable increases in new threads with Mt. Zion Prep. A skilled big that can knock down open perimeter looks and finish opportunities around the basket– he has flashed some defensive versatility and shot-blocking ability with the Warriors. He’s really worked on his body and the motor has been much more consistent this season. Expect the college interest to peak as MZP is likely to make deep runs in postseason tournaments to close out the year.

10p 7r 2s 1b vs Expressions Prep
-Continue coming away impressed by Flamer’s improved activity and feel as both a defender and rebounder in the halfcourt. His endurance and vertical leaping have improved to allow him to grab some big rebounds in traffic and finish above the rim but he is doing a great job of challenging shots in the paint without fouling. If the perimeter shooting flashes continue to become more consistent, he can earn himself more opportunities and raise MZP’s ceiling as a very deep group.

19p vs Ty Harris Elite
-Active on the glass with putback dunks and rebounds in traffic, did his work early to carve out space before the shot went up and snatch rebounds. Flamer’s anticipation as a help side shot blocker was great— blocked 4 shots cleanly without hitting with the body–getting his team going in transition to fuel a run that almost brought them all the way back. Rolled hard to the rim and finished well through the contact throughout the game. Currently headed to Salisbury School’s Postgraduate program but is open to college opportunities for the right fit.
