Ryan Morgan | Prep Hoops Scout
Simpson brought major energy against Auburn last week as his squad tried to finally take down the Trojans after suffering two defeats to them earlier in the season. The 6-foot-4 forward made an instant impact off the bench in the second quarter with two quick steals, one in the post and one out near mid-court. His work rate was undeniable, and it translated to every area on the floor. He worked hard inside, evidence by a strong seal on a defender fronting him pretty far out, holding it long enough to let the lob pass travel and then putting in the bucket to get their first lead of the game. He rebounded well and made some nice reads in close to the hoop including a good mid-air adjustment to go from shot to pass and find an open teammate. Although they came away with another loss to Auburn, Beamer and Simpson will be a tough out at the state tournament.

The senior post is a name to watch for Todd Beamer. They’ve put together a great season up to this point, going 15-3 and finishing second in the NPSL 3A. He’s got decent size at 6-foot-4 but has a stout frame and can put in some big minutes as a real presence down low. He works hard under the rim, actively runs the floor to both ends, and has a good touch at the line. He could be a guy that steps up big in their frontcourt and capitalizes on good matchups down low.
