Expert Analysis
Chad Graham | Prep Hoops Scout
Awahmukalah battled through some adversity of his own and came out victorious. He initially started out hot, knocking down a catch-and-shoot three and popping for a mid-range jumper. The under-the-radar forward also created havoc on defense. Then, after getting in foul trouble and sitting most of the third quarter, he bounced back with a pair of crucial rebounds and four free throws to tally 11 points, 5 boards, and 3 stocks (1s 2b).

He met the moment by altering shots at the rim, battling on the glass to extend possessions,l, and finishing through contact around the cup. In the fourth, he stepped out and hit a three as well, tallying 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 stocks (1s 2b).

Read EvaluationAri Rosenfeld | Prep Hoops Scout
Helping make the difference as a key source of interior offense, Awahmukalah thrived within his role on his way to an efficient 14-point performance. He was effective sneaking into soft spots near the basket and finishing swiftly in traffic. His length was a consistent factor on both ends of the floor and he even flashed a smooth stroke out to the 3-point line off the catch. He plays mostly as an undersized ‘5’ for Howard in smaller configurations, but has the skillset and fluidity to grow into a wing or hybrid forward role over time. Awahmukalah would be a great get at the D3 level or could benefit from a post-grad situation to be able to further expand his game before college.
