About Deng
Expert Analysis
Tom Keller | Prep Hoops Scout
Joe makes his presence felt as a rim runner on both ends of the floor. He has great length which allows him to score, rebound and block shots. He is showing that he has an evolved post game. Jok is elite at his role and doesn’t look to stray away from it. He would be a great fit at the junior college level where he could play and continue his development as a player.

Having battled injury throughout his time in the U.S., Jok has been able to put together a healthy senior year to showcase himself as a potential D1 rim protector. The South Sudanese big man isn’t just a big body, as he shows real instincts and technique while navigating space as a pick-and-roll defender or coming over in helpside situations. There’s dashes of offensive skill tossed in as well with some ability as a vertical spacer, while he also adds value as a rim-runner. Teams who play through the post offensively may not see value in Jok, but D1 programs–particularly of the high-academic variety–in need of rim protection late in the cycle should certainly be giving him a look.

The long and lean big man made his presence known on the interior from cleaning the glass, feasting on second chance opportunities and protecting the rim. He flashed fluid footwork for a layup after an offensive rebound. Jok produced one of the best lines of any big over the weekend: 17 points (8-11 FGA), 12 rebounds (4 offensive), 1 steal and 1 block.
