Expert Analysis

Aguek, a budding star at South Burlington, was another standout this summer who showcased an impressive offensive arsenal. A quick twitch athlete, Aguek is terrific in the open floor when he can push the pace and get downhill off the dribble. He has a great handle, does a good job of changing direction and speed, and gets into the teeth of the defense at will. He’s a creative guard that does a good job of getting into the aint and spraying it out to shooters, knows how to read defenses in ball screens, and quickly gets the ball from one side of the floor to the other. He’s also a capable scorer and multi-positional defender that does a good job of turning defense into transition offense. He’ll be a key piece to the puzzle at South Burlington this winter and has a chance to be among the top guards in the VPA.

Aguek, a product of South Burlington, is another prospect that made his mark at NERR’s Elite 75 North. A quick lead guard, Aguek is at his best in the open floor when he can impact the game with his speed and vision. He has a quick first step, long strides, and a crafty finishing game at the rim. He’s improved as a shooter, but does more to impact the game right now with his ability to get into the paint and make plays for other. He has an impressive ability to change speeds and directions and does a great job of taking care of the basketball. Defensively, he’s solid at the point of attack where he can hound opposing ball-handlers for 94′. He’s put himself on the radar of local D3’s and is another prospect to watch this winter.

Aguek was terrorizing offensive players for 94 feet all day. He’s got excellent lateral quickness and really good hands; he was basically a walking pick-6. Aguek also showed a really solid looking three-point stroke and some crafty finishing moves in the lane. He’s sort of a do-it-all combo guard who plays both ends and won’t give up too much on either. The South Burlington native should find a solid D3 fit somewhere, and it’ll be interesting to see whether he gets longer or taller this year.
