Dan is one powerful big man. He sets bone-rattling screens that create real separation for guards. When ball handlers understand how to use his screens and force defenders to absorb that contact, the offensive possibilities become limitless. Dan rebounds at a high level, runs the floor hard, protects the rim, and finishes with force around the basket. He dunks everything he can. He is the prototypical big man and is steadily developing into a dominant interior presence.

Dan Mangala was a total mismatch for anyone of the opposition in Westbury Christian’s consolation championship win over Legacy SSS and had 19 points and 13 rebounds. Mangala uses his size and height to finish over defenders with ease, get to the basket off the pick and roll, and even helps handle the ball in crunch time. Mangala protects the paint with good post defense and knows how to not bite on pump fakes and stay out of foul trouble. He also showed me that he has a bit of a smooth jumpshot and uses it when he can’t get to the rim. This will be a big year for Dan if he continues this type of play!
