Bates delivered a well-rounded senior season as a dynamic frontcourt piece for Durand-Arkansaw. A versatile scorer and tough rebounder, he brought physicality on the glass and could finish with both finesse and power around the rim. He averaged 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks per game. Bates posted a double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds in a key win over Elmwood/Plum City, dominating the paint on both ends.
Dane had a solid performance on opening night, being able to control the paint with his 6’9” frame. He can use his length to rebound at a high level, being able to come away with contested boards on both sides of the ball. He also can finish around the rim with either hand and looked good when rolling to the basket. He was going up strong, drawing several fouls.
