An explosive scoring performance to start the event, Calahan was getting buckets in the 10 A.M. timeslot against Nova-Germany. In the tail end of the first half leading into the start of the second half Calahan had 10 points in quick succession with a couple deep 3-pointers off the bounce and layups at the basket. Giving good effort on both ends, Calahan got the occasional steal and drew a lot of defensive attention. He earned that attention by getting into the lane consistently and either finishing or drawing free throws. A big-time scoring talent, Calahan could have some breakout scoring outbursts in the Dayton City League this year.

Another Prep Hoops Circuit standout from the Dayton area, Calahan has been a standout with Team Takeoff this spring. A talented guard scorer, Calahan was one of the top scorers in the Dayton city league. A standout on the gridiron as well, Calahan is an impressive athlete on the hardwood. Able to take over a game himself, Calahan projects as one of SW Ohio’s top scorers next season.

In the most competitive game I’ve seen this weekend, Calahan brought Team Takeoff back from a sizeable deficit to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat on Saturday morning. An efficient scoring outing, Calahan was making it rain from the outside and the quick guard was tough to contain. This is nothing new to Calahan, who had six 20+ point games as a Junior for Dayton Belmont. I was also impressed by his ability to ice the game from the free throw line once his team took the lead late in the game. The ability to close out wins is so important and Calahan did just that for his team. Unsigned senior Cedric Dillard Jr also shined for Team Takeoff. Dillard is a force on the interior and made his physical presence known with blocked shots and rebounds at both ends.
