Charleston had himself a really nice grassroots season and definitely turned some heads with his play. He has excellent positional strength and toughness and he’s as gritty as they come. We’d love to see him continue to show out at City Slam.

Charleston was a big part of leading the Detroit Bulldogs to the 17u Elite Eight at the Prep Hoops Circuit Grit Region Finals. The 6’2″ guard was especially good in their hard-fought, come from behind win over R4L Elite in the Sweet 16 round. He is an all-around scrappy player that impressed with his ability to rebound from the guard spot and his willingness to mix it up on the offensive glass. Some of his key buckets down the stretch versus R4L came via offensive rebound putbacks.

A scrappy Detroit Bulldogs squad got into the elite 8 with a comeback victory and Charleston played a key role in the second half spurt. Playing with a high motor on both ends of the court, the Bulldogs used steals and defensive rebounds to run in transition and get easy layups. The depth of their team was the difference as their opponents only had six players and by the time crunch time came around, Charleston and his squad had more energy. Despite being a guard, Charleston got numerous offensive rebounds and scored off putbacks. With 10 seconds left and his team up two points, Charleston calmly knocked down two free throws to ice the game.

Charleston was a player that I really looked forward to seeing play, and he didn’t disappoint. I liked how he played with under control physicality. He was very active and bouncy under the rim which meshed well with that physical nature. Charleston even showed some nice touch on his finishes at the rim.

Charleston is a player that could send a huge message at the Top 250. He’s an athletic guard that has some flare to his game on offense. Defensively, he’s willing to buckle in, get a low base, and out grind his opponent. Charleston could be one of the top breakout players at the event.

Charleston is a very underrated all around talent, but he won’t be for much longer if he continues to play like has has this summer. He averaged 14 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals per game last weekend. Charleston is low key very strong and can with and through contact. He’s a steady player that showed a very high basketball IQ at the event.
