Expert Analysis
Charles Yates | Prep Hoops Scout
Chris “CJ” Williams has been one of the most impressive guards all year in Houston, constantly putting up double digit scoring games for Stratford. He is a high-level playmaker, and he finds ways to always distribute the ball to everyone on the court. Williams scores from all three levels efficiently and constantly can maneuver past defenders with a variety of dribble moves. Explosive out of the triple threat, CJ has a good feel for the game on both sides of the ball. CJ passed 1,000 points back in January and he will be a huge force on offense for One Time Legends 17u this summer.

CJ Williams continues to demonstrate his skills as a guard, consistently impressing me with his offensive prowess. Throughout my time watching him, his ability to score from all three levels has been a testament to his talent. In the playoff game against Heights High School, he showcased his scoring prowess by amassing 24 points. Despite being tightly guarded throughout the game by multiple defenders, CJ remained unfazed and continued to excel. Notably, he was one of the only players to score in double digits, with his teammate contributing 10 points. Defensively, CJ demonstrated his on-ball ability by staying with opposing guards.

CJ Williams has been one of my favorite guards to watch play since his freshman year at Bellaire High School. Ever since the first time I watched him play, I knew he would be a special player and a D1 prospect. As of 2026, CJ has proven me right, picking up an offer from Saint Louis University recently and making significant improvements since I first watched him. Currently at Stratford High School, CJ is carrying a huge offensive load with multiple high-scoring games along with getting teammates involved, orchestrating the offense as the starting guard. Against Cy Falls High School, CJ scored 20 of the team’s 39 total points in a loss. Despite the loss, CJ’s impact was very evident.

Williams operated with an elite feel for the game, controlling pace and tempo with maturity beyond his years. He constantly manipulated defenders, dragging them into isolation before pulling up smoothly or attacking tight spaces. Displayed excellent instincts in shot selection, using step-backs and fadeaways to generate clean looks. As a dribbler, his pocket dribble froze defenders and allowed for sharp directional changes. A polished guard scorer with advanced creation tools.
