The top prospect on the Ohio Saints 17 U group that made a nice run to the semifinals, Strasser has continued to develop his game since I watched him last summer playing up at the 17 U level on the Prep Hoops Circuit. Strasser’s physical dominance is even more notable than last year with another year of weight room training. Strasser has also stretched out his range from beyond the arc and had a couple nice kickouts to shooters when he played on balance. One of the top players in the Licking County League, Strasser should be a target for regional small college programs looking for size and skill from the forward position.

Strasser is a very unique player. When you look at him he seems like he would be a force as a forward but he plays the wing with guard-like skills. He handles the ball and is a heck of a passer. He threw some nice full-court dimes in the game I watched. He has a nice jumper and then uses his size to be an effective finisher inside. He is a walking mismatch.

High school teammate of Murphy at Granville, Strasser is another prospect featured in this article playing up age groups this weekend. I was impressed with the size and physicality of Strasser, who doesn’t look out of place on a 17 U court. Able to show some ball handling and drive and kick ability in the half-court, Strasser is a unique match-up problem due to his size and ability to stretch defenders out to the perimeter. While he played well on Friday night, I definitely walked away intrigued by Strasser’s long term upside as a prospect playing up. Look for Strasser and Murphy to be key pieces for a Blue Aces squad hoping to claim the LCL title this winter.
