There are honestly a host of BCRI guys who could’ve been on this list, because their team is filled with players who aren’t too flashy but consistently make the right play and understand how to operate in a system. Bazzano is no different; he can shoot the lights out, and he never holds the ball for too long whenever he touches it. He always knows what he’s going to do with it, which makes him an excellent role player. He’s a great closeout attacker and makes smart, under control decisions when he gets into the paint, whether for himself or his teammates. Definite high D3 player in my opinion, despite his size.

Bazzano, a heady lead guard out of St. George’s School, has continued to impress with his energy and compete level this spring while playing a key role for BCRI. The 6’0″ guard is a terrific rebounder, making plays on the defensive end of the floor with his effort level and toughness. Offensively, he’s in constant movement, using screens to get open and cutting hard to the rim off the ball. He’s a next level shooter that can make movements threes, gets his shot off quickly, and can make them in bunches when he sees the ball go in the net. He should be a priority recruit for high academic programs in New England this summer.

I wrote about Bazzano last weekend, but he was simply too impressive on Saturday to not highlight again. The 5-foot-11 guard is so decisive whenever he catches the ball, and that combined with his exceptional shooting ability makes him very difficult to close out to. Once he makes some shots, he gets his dribble-drive game going, and he showcased some impressive finishes at the rim that I didn’t know he had in his bag. Bazzano is a really solid player who should be on the radar of high level D3 coaches, especially if he has the grades to back it up. Some coaches who I spoke to were on hand to watch him Saturday.

Bazzano really understands how to play within an offensive system. BCRI clearly likes to run a 0.5 offense where everybody briefly holds the ball before deciding to pass, shoot or dribble, and nobody does this better than him. He does a great job stampede catching — essentially running with the ball as it gets swung to him — and he makes great decisions once he touches the paint. He’s a really good passer, too, who’s unselfish and smart with his reads. I’ll be curious to see whether he can have a larger role on a talented St. George’s team next season, but regardless I could see him playing at the D3 level when the time comes.

Bazzano, a high academic prospect, had a strong summer at multiple stops, including on the travel circuit with BCRI. A heady lead guard, Bazzano has a great feel for how to control tempo, as well as how to hunt his shot off of ball screens. He does a nice job of creating space off the bounce and elevating into his jumper behind the arc. He has some quick twitch moments, where he shows pops of athleticism, and does a good job of capitalizing on openings in the defense. He takes care of the ball, finds open teammates for easy looks, and does a good job of pushing the ball in transition. Defensively, he’s gritty and intelligent, showing the willingness to give up his body but also showing the IQ to anticpate the next play. He does a good job of keeping the ball in front of him and it usually the first to the floor for loose balls. He’s a college prospect already and could turn heads this winter on a very talented St. George’s squad.
