-The Loyola commit is the straw that stirs the drink for a G Prep team that took some lumps early in big national games but are starting to pick up steam as we approach conference play. Berg-McLean gets paint touches and finds the baseline to shift the defense before delivering passes with some zip to his teammates. He can step up to score when he needs to and knock down open shots but he embraces his role as a PG that loves making the extra pass to lead to high percentage looks for his guys.

Berg-McLean had a great game for Georgetown in a hard-fought win against Archbishop Wood out of PA. He showcased his big guard ability by finishing at the rim with contact after scanning the floor for openings. Attacked the basket at a high level without making shifty moves to freeze defenders. He was able to drive to the basket well, but he always had his head up to find his shooters. Another highly efficient outing from the Loyola commit.

-Proved his value as a connector that can space the floor, perform either side of a 2-man game as a cutter or passer, and run the offense. His handle has gotten tighter and he’s seeing plays a frame faster than before, reading double teams before they get to him and making the right play. With good positional size, the ability to play on and off the ball, and a better athletic profile– he’s one of my favorite DMV sleeper prospects in the class and is a player that coaches should get involved with now.

-McLean’s role as a secondary playmaker and distributor off the bench for this Georgetown Prep team sometimes prevents him from collecting the stats that turn the heads of evaluators and college coaches, but if you watch the game you can easily see the impact that he has across the stat sheet for his squad. A jumbo guard with advanced feel with a knack for finding the open man, his ability to move to space to create his own offense as a C+S threat is improving every game that I catch of his. Has been utilizing an inside out cross into the spin move to finish with an extension layup around the rim, effectively using his size and length. A selfless creator that is looking for the best possible shot for his team, I expect his recruitment to pick up steam this offseason in his first season in the states coming from his native New Zealand.
