Expert Analysis
Will Armishaw | Prep Hoops Scout
Blankenberg, a wing out of the Winchendon School in Massachusetts, checks in at #10 among the small forwards and #37 overall in this update. The 6’7″ wing is a true three-level scorer that does a nice job of playing at his own speed on the offensive end of the floor. He finishes above the rim as a cutter, knows how to play out of dribble hand-offs, and shows consistency as a three point shooter. Defensively, he uses his frame to his advantage as a rebounder and shows good instincts when playing off the ball. He’ll play this spring and summer for City Rocks Basketball.

Winchendon doesn’t necessarily have a traditional big man at the center position, but they get away with having Blankenberg in that spot because of his strength, toughness and defensive acumen. He does an unbelievable job protecting the rim for his size, and he even slides his feet like a guard on the perimeter and can take charges. Offensively, he attacks the glass like a madman and is a really solid finisher in the paint. He’s as solid as they come and should be getting scholarship looks. He might not fill up the stat sheet in all the notable ways, but he makes winning plays.

Blankenberg, a native of New York, is new to the region after transferring into the Winchendon School and cracks the rankings at #78. A hybrid forward, the 6’8″ Blankenburg is a nice athlete that has good burst around the rim as a slasher and off-ball cutter. He’s a threat to finish above the rim off the bounce, in transition, and off lob plays. He can handle in space, makes good decisions as a passer from the top of the key, and has the ability to go by bigger defenders on the perimeter. Defensively, he uses his length and athleticism to block and deter shots around the rim, while also playing with a high motor that helps him to make a significant impact on the defensive glass.
