Shane Garcia | Prep Hoops Scout
Hornbeak is a long, versatile wing who can play inside and out. He shows flashes of being a high-level scorer with his ability to get buckets from different spots on the floor. He has good size, touch, and a skillset that makes him hard to guard. With more consistency, Hornbeak has the potential to be one of the most impactful players in this group.

Hopson Elite has been a main participant at numerous Prep Hoops events over the years and Hornbeak is a tough wing to stop with positional size and athleticism.

Hornbeak is a very intriguing prospect that I am excited to see play against some of the top players in the area. He is a 6’6 wing who can play inside very nicely as well. He has great size and length but also shows flashes of an elite player. He can shoot it from deep but shows some very good off-the-dribble pull-up game. He is a good transition player because he can take it all the way to the rim and finish against bigger players. Excited to see him compete at this level of talent.

On a team without many senior presences, Toledo Central Catholic will be going through some growing pains this season. I didn’t catch those on Friday as the Irish looked impressive in a double-digit victory. Hornbeak played a key role in the win as he knocked down some perimeter shots and most importantly made a big impact defensively. Starting to figure out his body, Hornbeak blocked a couple shots and had multiple steals as well. On a team with some talented scorers, Hornbeak can be a key contributor if he continues to play defense at the level I saw on Friday.

Hornbeak has some serious potential. He showed flashes of being a very good player and when he puts it together and makes his play consistent he will be a heck of a player. He has some great tools – height, length, and fluid movement. He showed good touch around the rim Friday night.

Hopson Elite has a bunch of talent in their program and I was able to catch their 16 U group on Sunday. Hornbeak was a player who stood out immediately with his frame, ability to knock down shots off the catch and physicality. The most impressive athlete on his team, Hornbeak had some blocks and steals on the defensive end of the court as well. Looking like a late blooming wing guard, Hornbeak has some skills to work with and as a 2026 prospect has the time to develop into a productive high school player over the next two years. A prospect to watch in northwest Ohio, fans are familiar with the Hornbeak name on the hardwood already.
